Red Carpet Fashion Dreams

Brad's at the computer.  I'm on the bed...crocheting.  Zion is next to me watching an online tutorial on how to make ribbon hair barrettes.  Jemima is digging through my closet...looking for something to wear.

Jemima:  When Dad does his big movie and we get to go to the Oscars...I know what red carpet dress I want.  I've been dreaming of it.

At this point...Brad turns from his work and almost breaks down.  Seriously...he is close to tears.  He and I have eye contact.  What a sweet thought.  What a sweet encouragement. So much hope.

Jemima:  It's a cross between Aundrey Hepburn's in Funny Face...wait.....(she googles).....  no Sabrina!  So gorgeous!!!!

Jemima:  And Jennifer Lawrence's.... I don't know what year...wait... (she googles.)

Me:  The one she fell in?

Jemima:  Yeah.

Me:  The white one?

Jemima:  Yeah.  So classic.  So beautiful!!!!!

Then ...for the next five minutes...Jemima and Zion go on to discuss 50's fashion.  Cinched wastes...silhouettes...skirt lengths...etc.

Zion:  Remember in Call The Midwife...that outfit she wore when she went to the bar...with the cute sweater that went to here (points to high waste)  and the pants?   The black high wasted pants.  It was the late 40's early 50's outfit.

Me/Jemima:  The cigarette pants.

Zion: Yeah.

I am not sure where all this would fall on an academic record...but it should fall in there somewhere.

Yours Forever and a Day

Dear Home-Education,

Have I told you lately how much I love you?

I do.
I do.
I do.

Ever so much.

Tonight Jemima got to be Thomas's date at a Downton Abbey SAG event.  The episode where Anna is raped by that gross valet of Lord Gillingham...was screened...and Joanne Froggatt was the guest speaker.

(That's Thomas above...waiting for her to arrive as the doors were closing.  LA traffic is so random)

She enjoyed the evening very much and even learned something about herself.  Upon reflection...she now is able to articulate with certainty that it's not actors she's impressed with at all...but characters.  And story lines.  And writers

So great.

And so great that she gets to record tonight's Field Trip in her academic portfolio.

Thank you, Home-Education.  I LOVE you!!!!!!!!

Yours Forever and a Day,
Dawn

Robert G. Zuckerman

Bradley and Robert have worked together twice before.  For this shoot...they met at The Farmer's Daughter and disappeared for an hour.

I wandered the property...taking in the plant life with the hotel manager.

What I like best about Bradley and Robert spending time together in the same space. ..there's many smiles.  And laughter.

And they call each other Schlomo.

Schlomo #1 and Schlomo #2.

Detective Bradley

We have a very encouraging neighbor.  He is also always willing to help in any way he can whenever a need arises.

This week he got to encourage and help.

Brad had the opportunity to audition for a film.  His role... a detective.

Bryan...our neighbor has ties to the LAPD so he got on the phone w/some officer over at some desk somewhere and helped Brad figure out the correct way to say some internal code.

And with the dialogue issue settled...he wanted Brad to "feel" the experience of being a cop...so he ran home to get something.  He came back with his bullet proof vest...which he made Brad put on.

Brad and I filmed the audition scenes and his agent sent them off to be looked at by casting & the director etc.

In his youth...Brad booked lots of tough guy roles.

Nowadays...I think he'd make a pretty good detective

We were on our way out the next day...when Bryan ran over to see how the audition taping went.

So encouraging.  And hopeful.

Third Tuesdays

SO this is Clint.  Clint played Mcabe's dad on an episode of Enlisted.

Mcabe and he really clicked and Mcabe's been telling Brad that they should really meet up for coffee.

After a few months...and just the other day...Bradley called Clint and they got together.

During their meeting...Clint kept saying things that ended with..."It all depends on your belief system."  "The most important thing is the belief system... As long as you have a good belief system."

So because Bradley is Bradley...after like the third time of this belief system thing coming up...Brad says..."Well, let me ask you a question, Clint.  What is your belief system?"

Clint doesn't bat an eye.  "Jesus Christ.  I'm a Christian."

Brad is blown away...and yells, "Brother!"

On set...Clint had picked up on something different about Mcabe and Mcabe had picked up on something different about Clint...and that led to Brad being brought in which led to me being brought in.

Clint invited us to a monthly event ministering to Christians in the entertainment industry.

Guess where it's held.

The Writer's Guild.

Last night Brad and I sat with our new friend and worshipped Jesus during a time of fellowship...praise & worship...and teaching.

When Crystal Lewis started to sing...All my Tears...I began to cry.

And I continued to cry.

My favorite song.

This all happened smack in the middle of Beverly Hills...where I grew up.  Off of Wilshire...in the Writer's Guild building.

and they're off

When your sons take off for 3 mos.

The boys / Dead Rabbit...were hired to shoot B camera on a reality series.

What I love most about this...

...Mcabe not finding his identity in acting work.  He called his agents and said, "Gotta take this job.  The pay is good and the experience will be great.  I'll call you when I'm back in town."

What I love & hate equally....they will most likely be doing things like going up in helicopters and such.

At least they will be with US army helicopter pilots.

And look who they bumped into at the Charlotte airport...

Haggle him all the way down to $150 and count it all joy.

The Mindy Project

Someone just tweeted Mcabe asking if his episode aired tonight.

We missed it.

Enlisted

Mcabe and his Enlisted brothers.

I didn't step foot on the set so I have no idea what to expect.  Well, that's not 100% true.  I ran lines w/ Mcabe here at home so I have an idea of the story line and what his character is like etc....but it's going to be so much FUN to watch the episode when it airs.

3 gingers who give the town sheriff a run for his money.  YES!!!!!!!!!  Atta boy.

Cedars of Lebanon UPDATE

A friend contacted us and said..."I think you need to meet this guy."

100% ready, willing, and able.

We've had two meetings in as many weeks and there seems to be movement.  Today...a lovely partnership was sealed with hugs.

Handshakes are for other people.

And a $500 contribution to the Film Fund arrived from a brother in AZ.  He is the most AWESOME encourager ever!  It means so much to our hearts to have his unending support not only for this film project...but for us.

He has no idea ...but we are going to feature him in the Bar Mitzvah scene.   Front and center.

Death and the Civil War

Another fascinating documentary.  This time...Death and the Civil War is the subject matter.

So incredibly interesting.  And terribly moving.

I really think anybody who has an interest in American History would benefit.

For sure... all who have a soft spot for the Civil War should see it.

It's very good Worldview conversation starter.

I'm reminded of  a post  I wrote years ago.

Kings of Leon

Brad and I watched a fascinating documentary on Mcabe's recommendation.

How these precious boys made it out of their crazy charismatic backgrounds with any sort of authentic faith in tact...I swear I do not know.

Yes,  I do.

Whatever kernels are there...it's in spite of the stumbling blocks and most assuredly of the Lord.

One thing's for certain.  I am praying for the boys of Kings of Leon from here on out.

Theology...it matters.

This got me to thinking about an upcoming conference Strange Fire....over at Grace Community Church.

And just now...I remembered Katy Perry's documentary...Part of Me.  She too grew up in the Pentecostal church.  Poor thing.  Praying like crazy for her as well.

Evangeline Cottage / Film Lovers

If you know our family on any sort of intimate level for any amount of extended time...you know that we love all things film & television.  We love character development.  We love how stories unfold.  We love actors and actors' choices.

We love watching movies together...usually in the living room (theaters are so expensive!!!!)  gathered together...diving in to various worlds and suspending belief until the credits roll.  The Lord has used film & television to strengthen our familial relationships...to bring us together.

And we often relate things back to film/t.v.  We use the mediums as springboards to discussions as well.

Some people speak "Sports."  Others speak "Music or Literature or Academia...."  It's safe to say Bradley and I speak the language of film/television.  And our kids do too.

I've probably blogged about it before...but who knows where and when?  I have so many posts tagged under "film."

Anyways....

I feel led to & enjoy encouraging filmmakers & film lovers.

The Lord has placed so many of them in our circle of friends.

This image would be perfect hanging up on a living room wall or above the bed of an artist w/dreams....blown up on either rolled or stretched canvas.

Or if an individual was blessed enough to have their very own SCREENING ROOM already....oh....SO GOOD!!!!!!

New Representation

I am happy to say that I am now representing Bradley Gregg.  I have been a fan of his work and am thrilled to be representing him now that he is in Los Angeles and ready to dive back into the industry.

He is such a gifted actor and my goal is to re-introduce him to the industry and to the people who know him, and to create new fans among those who are less familiar.  As someone who knows him and his work, I do hope you will keep him in mind and help us ignite his career once again.

Bradley is a contemporary of actors such as Leonardo DiCaprio, River Phoenix, Ethan Hawke, Giovanni Ribisi, Johnny Depp, and Michael Rapaport, having worked with them and had equally successful starts to his career.  Bradley’s first notable role was as Eyeball Chambers inStand By Me.  His career catapulted from there with roles in features such as Nightmare on Elm Street 3, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, The Fisher King and recurring roles on TV in Lonesome Dove , E.R. and O Pioneers among others.   Bradley has worked with Rob Reiner, Wes Craven, Steven Spielberg, Terry Gilliam, and opposite actors David Morse, Tommy Lee Jones, Robert Duvall, Jeff Bridges, Robin Williams, Robert Patrick, Kiefer Sutherland, Dennis Hopper and Lara Flynn Boyle.  After taking a hiatus to raise a family, Bradley is back in Los Angeles, and positioned to once again bring his talent’s to the big and small screen.
