Robert G. Zuckerman

Bradley and Robert have worked together twice before.  For this shoot...they met at The Farmer's Daughter and disappeared for an hour.

I wandered the property...taking in the plant life with the hotel manager.

What I like best about Bradley and Robert spending time together in the same space. ..there's many smiles.  And laughter.

And they call each other Schlomo.

Schlomo #1 and Schlomo #2.

Moments I'd Like to Remember

I would not trade our days together for any amount of whatever anyone else could offer me.

______________________________________

We found a new family doctor thru a friend.  We like her very much and she takes cash paying patients!  Love the free market system.

______________________________________

Some days I have to deal with requests like this one....

___________________________________

Zion very much likes to write with the plume pen that she got at the Civil War re-enactment.

______________________________________

She also likes making Stuffed Peppers and Roasted & Herbed Chick Peas.

There's a National Geographic exhibit currently housed at The Annenberg Space For Photography.  Admission is free and it's pretty wonderful.  After viewing the 1/2 hour documentary that they have playing for visitors Zion seemed very burdened.  Seeing images of suffering around the globe made her contemplate how minor her problems are in comparison.

P.S.  And it just now occurred to me.  Zion is apparently very attached to that headband.

Evangeline Cottage / Film Lovers

If you know our family on any sort of intimate level for any amount of extended time...you know that we love all things film & television.  We love character development.  We love how stories unfold.  We love actors and actors' choices.

We love watching movies together...usually in the living room (theaters are so expensive!!!!)  gathered together...diving in to various worlds and suspending belief until the credits roll.  The Lord has used film & television to strengthen our familial relationships...to bring us together.

And we often relate things back to film/t.v.  We use the mediums as springboards to discussions as well.

Some people speak "Sports."  Others speak "Music or Literature or Academia...."  It's safe to say Bradley and I speak the language of film/television.  And our kids do too.

I've probably blogged about it before...but who knows where and when?  I have so many posts tagged under "film."

Anyways....

I feel led to & enjoy encouraging filmmakers & film lovers.

The Lord has placed so many of them in our circle of friends.

This image would be perfect hanging up on a living room wall or above the bed of an artist w/dreams....blown up on either rolled or stretched canvas.

Or if an individual was blessed enough to have their very own SCREENING ROOM already....oh....SO GOOD!!!!!!

Summer

I know it's not officially here...but I'm from back east originally...and the time period that comes after Memorial Day and up until the first day of school in September...is considered Summer

My father is an intuitive photographer.  I know...in part...I get my love of images from him.

This shot...taken on Sanibel Island, FLA. is one of my all time favorites.  We would drive down from Staten Island each summer for a week long vacation.

snow white sand
seashells in peaches and corals and lavenders with shades of gray and streaks of plum and tangerine
sunburned noses peeling and cracked
sunfish sailboats
grits w/ butter
cotton in the breeze

There comes a deep deep deep sense of security when you are truly loved by your family of origin.  I was gifted with an amazing childhood.  Living my days alongside my brother...who was my best friend in the world.

If only our kids were half as blessed.  It would make me smile.

Green

This is a fun exercise you can do with the kids anywhere/anytime.  Downtown...at the library...in the grocery store...in your own home...on a nature walk...by the sea...

Choose a color...a shape...a thing (clouds/flowers/hats/animals/jewels etc) ...and go on a search.
Snap photos with your camera or phone and then organize the images into a collage

We chose GREEN as our subject.  It kept the girls alert & on their toes and now we have a one-of-a-kind keepsake from our day at the Getty.

Jade's Quinceanera

I am without my camera kit for the moment.  Braverijah's got it on the road with him...shooting

I feel lost without a camera.

Snapped these on my phone.

The girls got to experience their first Quinceanera.  Jade...a girl they know from Youth Group...is  1/2 Mexican and 1/2 Chinese.  She's also very  sweet.

Alliance Defending Freedom

Oh my goodness...same convo going on over here.  But wait...if I say "no" to one thing ...do I say "no" to another?  For instance....a believer marrying a non-believer....or two heterosexual non believers who are currently living together while fornicating....taking the leap into marriage....or a believer walking in open sin marrying another believer walking in open sin (fornicating or any ####### of other sins)...or a man wanting to marry his 5th wife...or ...or.....or.....or..............................BIG questions.

And the immediate answers one might respond with bring up bigger questions.

Bradley, the kids, and I...went round and round just last week regarding this very topic.

I am so happy I am a wife and a mother and a home-educating one at that...who says "yes" and "no" to photography shoots...depending on my schedule.

And I am thankful for the hard questions as they keep me grounded in the Word...seeking out Godly counsel... and on my toes.  And I am thankful for the Alliance Defending Freedom.

If you were a vegan Peta supporting photographer and you were asked to shoot a dream African Safari Wedding (all expenses paid  :)  ...or document a Deep Sea Tuna Fishing Expedition/Bachelor Party...would you do it?  Or the Thanksgiving cover for Food & Wine...complete with a crisp skinned perfectly browned delicious moist meat turkey as the star??????  Could you?  Would you?

If you were a photographer who had personal objections to nudity on film and a client came to you wanting a Nude Sitting w/ her newborn?  Nothing scandalous would be exposed...just a beautiful art shot. Would you feel differently about shooting nudity if you were in a different setting...let's say....in Africa where tribal nudity was the norm?  What if the model was a cancer survivor who wanted to document the loss of her breasts and her victory over the disease?

Why?  Why not?

See what I mean!?!!!!!?????!!!!!???

Susan.  She knows herself very very well.  All too well as a matter of fact.

I really really like this woman a lot.

She is transparent and she is authentic...two qualities that are necessary for deep rooted friendships to blossom.

On a whole other note...her cat eyes are AMAZING!

Darling Girl.  I say "girl" cuz she is over 10 years younger than I am...which makes me feel older than "a girl"...sorta like "a lady"  or "a broad"... or something akin.

So sweet.  Sensitive.  Smart.  Generous.  Soft spoken.  With an edge.  Spunky.  Greatest smile EVER.

Also on the cover of last weeks...TIME MAGAZINE!!!!!!!!!!!!!  WAY TO GO, STEPHANIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
