Short Term Misssion

While in Rocky Pointe, Mexico... Bria and the team he went down with painted a local resident's home...worked on another's roof, served food and attended Sunday services. He's never seen poverty like this before and wants to go again.

Learning all about horses...a nice new activity we were not expecting but are thankful for and excited about.

How's about that sneaky peek-a-boo surprise in Photo #1?

I came downstairs this morning to find Jemima and Mcabe embroiled in a BREAKFAST FOOD CHALLENGE. Galilee was to judge on breakfast appropriateness and overall presentation.

Because our boys are who they are and they do what they do.....we've had to deal with local law enforcement on a few occasions over the years. Once...when they were really little (maybe 10 & 8)....they got caught by an offended neighhbor walking through the desert with slingshots. A patrol car pulled up. I asked the very polite officer at my front door if carrying slingshots in the desert was illegal and was assured that it wasn't....so.....I told him that my boys would most likely continue to walk through the desert carrying slingshots. He left....probably realizing that most likey.....he would be back some day in the future.

I'm not sure if tonight's officer was the same fella or not....but our conversation resembled the last one on record.

Me: Is it illegal to shoot airsoft guns into the desert?

Officer: No.

Me: Then, I can pretty much guarantee that my boys will do it again.

Officer: Yeah. I can see that the boys are just having fun. No harm done.

(then) You might want to have a non confrontational word w/your neighbor though.

So, that's exactly what Mcabe and I did. We paid our offended neighbor a visit.

The poor thing was simply besides herself in tears because her beloved desert is being ruined by the intrusion of airsoft pellets. She's afraid the pellets may harm all the precious, darling wild animals (javelina, coyote etc.)......... which she feeds daily on her driveway. That would be too horrible and horrific to fathom.

I assure her that the pellets are biodegradable and that the only animals being harmed by my boys at this time are the ones which are being hunted legally.

Mcabe handled himself well...respectufully, but firmly..... defending the legal actions of himself, his brother, and friends...reitorating in person that they did not in fact intrude upon her private property as was falsley reported to the authorities and that they did not harm any wildlife which they were accused of. And, that they were not liars.....which was shouted out in anger at some point.

The traumatized neighbor calmed down and even went so far as to admit that she overreacted and didn't need to call the police after apologizing and hoping that the boys didn't get into trouble. She knows that they are "good boys." "Homeschooled boys...... and Christians like herself."

A hands on education in interpersonal relationships at it's finest.

Here's my question:

Is there a law against being total dorks?????????????

Why We Do What We Do

Relationship. Relationship. Relationship.
Bradley and I were busy one evening....doing what busy parents do....when we stopped....and heard a quiet noise in the house.

All five kids of our kiddos (17, 14, 13, 11, 5).....playing Spoons.

We are back at co-op after a much needed break. It's nice to be on a schedule and with friends again.

Jazz

Songstress, Nayo Jones on the mic.... Doc Jones on keyboard...Tony on guitar........and Kerry Campbell (word is...he's Charlie Parker's son) on sax.
What a gentle, peaceful, music filled evening. Complete and utter pleasure.

It was dark inside the club....loooooooow light. A flash would've so ruined the ambiance.

My favorite shot of Kara.

Zion has taken to wearing a "cap" to bed to protect her braids. Hmmmmmmmmm.....where on earth did she come up with this idea?

You can tell that Zion is getting tired when she starts playing with her top lip. I love that!

We went to visit Nana today. She is doing well....even w/the pain. She is so grateful for the fact that the Lord opened up her baby blues...that she would never think to complain.

We have had some heavy Waiting Room discussions w/ all sorts of lovely folks. One couple....riddled w/back to back hearbreak...lost in a cult. Across from them, a quiet man (until he started talking)....pouring his broken heart out to us as well. We (Dad, Bria, Mcabe, and I) chatted nonstop for six hours with these virtual strangers.....yet somehow, it all felt so divine and so planned. Pre-ordained. A woman and her parents....obviously very nervous for the news about her husband that could change their lives forever. I'm still amazed at what the Lord did yesterday.

I caught Dad......... embedded w/Mom around the clock..... as he was on his way in from a quick 20 minute trip to the market w/a bouquet of flowers in hand....talking w/a gentleman in a wheelchair. This man was in for a routine knee replacement but somehow got himself a staph infection and needed an amputation. What stories! What opportunities! Oh my goodness....the open doors!
