Happy Valentine's Day everyone. I am still in my pj's.....haven't gotten out of them all day. It's been quite quiet and cozy around here....a laaaaaaazy lovey day. Watched a fascinating documentary w/my hubby. Actually, we re-watched it. It was just as fascinating the second time around. If you are at all interested in fashion/art/artists.....you should really try to see it (sensitive viewers beware.)

Speaking of fashion................

As many of you already know....I am a second hand/consignment/thrift store junkie. It all started back when Bradley and I were dating in the mid 80's. Often times, we would find vintage wardrobe pieces for Bradley's auditions and such. We were regulars at the Rose Bowl flea market & Aardvarks on Melrose & Venice Beach.....and the original Urban Outfitters on Canal St. in SoHo. Really, everywhere we went....we looked for and found bargains and treasures. While Brad was filming Madhouse in Tuscon....I would scour the shops near the college rather than be bored on the set......take my purchases to the laundermat and be in my glory with my new wardrobe. Once..... while on a mission trip....in Miami, Oklahoma we hit paydirt! A little Main Street resale shop was having a $2/brown paper bag sale. Bags and bags of awesome clothing for 6- 8 bucks! Close to heaven....that's what that day felt a little like. Buffalo Exchange caught my fancy when we moved to town.....but I have a hard time driving so far when there's great shops close by. Why spend $ on gas when it can go towards a cute shirt? That makes no sense whatsoever.

I think it's fun and a good stewardship of the Lord's resources to second hand shop. I'm not green by any stretch of the imagination.....but if you are....then, buying used will be a great inspiration for you. I promise.....once you start.....you will never go back to retail. Times are few and far between when I pay full price for something. Only if it's marked waaaaaaay down.....like slashed 75%. It's either wholesale or resale for this girl.

I'm going to start posting all of my great finds. It tickles me to find them and I'm hoping they tickle you too. Now, I know there are some out there who either resale shop or want to resale shop but don't talk about it openly. Get over yourself. Life is too short not to share the joy.

There is something so sweet about the times when sisters gather together....just being moms and girlfriends....chatting, laughing, encouraging, accepting, being mother hens to all the little chicks in the vicinity.

It really hit me for some reason yesterday....more than most other times (don't know exactly why???????????)

We are pilgrims on journeys....these ladies and I. Each of us has one foot in and one foot out of this place. Each is firmly rooted while being ready to fly.......... all in the same breath. It's quite inspiring and I am humbled by those the Lord puts in my path.

A Father's Love

I think the Lord might've given this evidence of the change of seasons just for me. Is that self-centered and prideful? I am his daughter and He wants to give me the desires of my heart as long as they match up with His will. I'm telling you, this dusting of snow was just for me. I'm giggling right now....because my Abba can make snow just to give me pleasure and draw me closer to Him.

I have never seen Bria so inspired. He is excited to be learning. It brings joy to this Mom's heart.

Last night I was contacted by a spokesperson for Concerned Women for America. The lady on the line was very sweet and obviously troubled by the heightened slaughter of unborn children we are about to be confronted with as a nation. After laying out the problem clearly and succinctly....she asked if I were concerned.

"Yes, I am." was my reply.

"Then surely you will join us with a cash donation....even in these difficult economic times...to help fight the good fight....." something along those lines.

"No, I will not."

There was a pause of confusion.

"I believe it's Christians who got President Obama elected and that our nation is going to come under a time of discipline. I believe the entire circumstance has passed through the Lord's throne room and that His discipline might be exactly what we need. So I will be praying for evidences of it."

Another long pause.

"Okay. Thank you very much."

"You are welcome. Keep fighting."

I got the best gift from my dad for CHRISTmas this year. He transferred every single slide in our family collection over to C.D. and organized them by year.

Now, he is working on the 1000's of images we have in albums. My entire life in photos! I will post my favs here :)

Seriously, when this note came in today, I just cried and cried. Cate has acknowledged with sensitivity and depth the great crushing blow our hearts experienced with River's loss. We do not speak of him often...but he is never far from our thoughts. Years have passed....but not to us. It seems like yesterday...and because I had a glimpse into the heart of my friend and because I know the goodness of my Lord....I hope for time spent together again one day.

I have been given the best of friends by a loving God who works in and through relationships.

Bradley, his brother.....Damon, and their buddy, Kevin. My hubby would've so caught my fancy if I knew of him back then.
